1. About these terms
By placing an order with Lumina Design Ltd, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.
Nothing in these terms affects any statutory rights available to consumers under applicable UK law.
Where you are purchasing in the course of a business, trade or profession, additional business-to-business provisions in these terms may apply.
2. Products and specifications
Lumina Design supplies architectural roof glazing products including Atlas roof lanterns and flat rooflights.
Product information, drawings, images, technical information and dimensions are provided to help customers select an appropriate product. Images are illustrative and actual colours, glass appearance and minor product details may vary due to screen settings, lighting, manufacturing tolerances and product development.
The specification confirmed on your order, proforma invoice or order acknowledgement takes precedence over general website imagery or promotional material.
3. Measurements and kerb dimensions
Roof lantern and rooflight dimensions are generally based on the external dimensions of the finished kerb or upstand, unless specifically stated otherwise.
The customer is responsible for checking all dimensions before ordering.
For roof lanterns, the kerb must be correctly constructed, square and suitable to receive the product.
For flat rooflights, dimensions must be measured in accordance with the relevant product guidance, including measuring a pitched side along the slope where applicable.
Lumina Design is happy to assist with measurements and specification before an order is placed, but responsibility for dimensions supplied by the customer remains with the customer unless we have expressly agreed otherwise in writing.
4. Made-to-measure and bespoke products
Many of the products supplied by Lumina Design are manufactured specifically to the dimensions, colours, glazing specification or configuration selected by the customer.
Once manufacture has commenced, made-to-measure or personalised goods may not normally be cancelled or returned simply because the customer has changed their mind.
For consumer purchases, the normal cancellation right for distance sales does not generally apply to goods made to the consumer's specifications or clearly personalised.
This does not affect your rights where goods are faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied or otherwise do not conform to the contract.
5. Orders and acceptance
Submitting an order through the website, accepting a quotation or paying a proforma invoice constitutes an offer to purchase.
An order is accepted by Lumina Design when we confirm acceptance, process the order for manufacture or otherwise confirm that the order has been placed with the relevant supplier.
We reserve the right to reject or query an order before acceptance if there appears to be an error in specification, dimensions, pricing, availability or delivery information.
If an obvious pricing or technical error is identified before acceptance, we will contact you before proceeding.
6. Prices and VAT
Our website may display both ex-VAT and inc-VAT prices.
For consumer orders, the total payable price including VAT will be clearly shown before purchase.
Delivery is included in the displayed product price unless otherwise stated. Additional delivery charges may apply to certain locations, including some remote or restricted-access areas.
Where an additional charge applies, we will advise you before the order is processed wherever reasonably possible.
UK consumer distance-selling rules require traders to provide the total price inclusive of taxes and any applicable delivery charges or explain that additional charges may apply.
7. Payment
Payment must be received in full before made-to-order goods are released for manufacture unless alternative terms have been agreed in writing.
We may accept payment by debit or credit card and other payment methods displayed at checkout.
Ownership of goods remains with Lumina Design until payment has been received in full.
8. Lead times
Lead times vary according to product type, dimensions, colour, glazing specification and current manufacturing workload.
Any lead time stated on the website, quotation or order acknowledgement is an estimate unless we expressly confirm that a particular date is guaranteed.
Where a consumer contract does not specify an agreed delivery period, UK law generally requires delivery without undue delay and no later than 30 days after the contract is entered into, unless another period has been agreed.
If your project is dependent on a particular delivery date, please tell us before ordering so we can advise whether the timing is achievable.
9. Delivery
Customers must provide an accurate delivery address and suitable contact telephone number.
The delivery location must be reasonably accessible for the delivery vehicle being used.
The customer is responsible for ensuring that suitable people or equipment are available to receive and safely handle the goods, particularly for large or heavy roof lanterns and glazing units.
Delivery drivers may not be able to carry large products through buildings, over walls, up steps or to locations away from the delivery vehicle.
Goods should not be booked for installation immediately following an anticipated delivery date unless sufficient contingency has been allowed for possible transport or manufacturing delays.
10. Checking goods on delivery
Please inspect packaging and goods as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.
Any obvious transport damage should be noted with the carrier where possible and reported to Lumina Design promptly, together with photographs.
Please retain packaging and damaged components until we have advised how the matter will be handled.
Where damage is not immediately visible, please notify us as soon as reasonably possible after discovery.
Nothing in this section limits a consumer's statutory rights.
11. Installation
Unless specifically agreed otherwise, Lumina Design supplies products only and does not provide installation.
The kerb, upstand, structural opening, waterproofing, roof covering and associated building works are the responsibility of the customer or their contractor.
Installation must be carried out in accordance with the applicable manufacturer's installation guidance.
The installer is responsible for checking that the kerb is level, square, correctly sized and structurally suitable before installation begins.
Lumina Design is not responsible for defects caused by incorrect installation, unsuitable kerb construction, movement of the building structure, defective weatherproofing by others or failure to follow the manufacturer's instructions.
12. Glass
Glass products can display natural optical characteristics including reflections, slight colour variation, roller-wave distortion, visual effects under certain lighting conditions and differences in appearance between glass coatings.
These characteristics do not necessarily indicate a manufacturing defect.
The appearance of solar-control and tinted glass may vary depending on light, viewing angle and surrounding conditions.
13. Faulty or incorrect goods
Consumers are entitled to receive goods that are of satisfactory quality, fit for any particular purpose made known to the seller where applicable, and as described. These rights cannot be excluded by contract.
If you believe goods are faulty, incorrect or do not match the order, contact us as soon as possible with:
-
your order number;
-
a description of the issue; and
-
clear photographs where relevant.
We may ask for further information to allow the supplier or manufacturer to assess the issue.
Where a valid fault exists, the available remedy will depend on the circumstances and your applicable statutory rights.
14. Warranties
Manufacturer warranties may apply to particular products or components.
The duration and scope of any warranty will depend on the product purchased and the manufacturer's applicable warranty terms.
A commercial warranty is in addition to, and does not replace, any statutory rights available to consumers.
Warranty claims may require photographs, proof of purchase, installation information or other supporting evidence.
15. Cancellations and changes
If you wish to change or cancel an order, contact us immediately.
Where production has not yet commenced, we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate amendments or cancellation.
Once a made-to-measure or personalised product has entered manufacture, cancellation or alteration may not be possible.
Any additional costs resulting from a requested change will be confirmed before the change is processed.
16. Returns
Standard, non-personalised goods may be returnable subject to applicable consumer rights and our Refund Policy.
Made-to-measure, bespoke or personalised products cannot normally be returned simply because they are no longer required or because incorrect dimensions or specifications were supplied by the customer.
This restriction does not apply where goods are faulty, incorrectly supplied or otherwise do not conform to the contract.
17. Business customers
Where the customer is purchasing wholly or mainly for business purposes, trade or resale, statutory consumer protections may not apply.
For business customers, any limitation or exclusion of liability is subject to the applicable test of reasonableness under UK law. Liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence cannot be excluded.
Lumina Design will not be responsible for indirect or consequential business losses such as loss of profit, loss of contract, loss of opportunity, loss of installation time or third-party contractor costs except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.
18. Consequential costs
Customers should not arrange irreversible building works, installation labour or associated trades solely in reliance on an estimated delivery date.
Except where the law does not permit us to exclude liability, Lumina Design is not responsible for consequential costs arising from delays, rescheduling, access difficulties or installation issues outside our reasonable control.
For consumer purchases, this clause does not limit any rights or remedies that cannot legally be restricted.
19. Events outside our control
We are not responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control, including severe weather, transport disruption, supplier delays, shortages of materials, industrial action, fire, flood, power failure or other unforeseen events.
Where such an event affects your order, we will provide updated information as soon as reasonably practical.
20. Website information
We make reasonable efforts to keep website descriptions, specifications and prices accurate.
Product specifications may occasionally change as manufacturers update their products.
If a material change affects an accepted order, we will contact you before proceeding where appropriate.
21. Intellectual property
Website content, images, graphics, product descriptions and other materials belonging to Lumina Design may not be copied or reproduced for commercial purposes without permission.
Manufacturer trademarks, drawings and images remain the property of their respective owners.
22. Privacy
Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Payment information processed by third-party payment providers is subject to their own security and privacy arrangements.
23. Complaints
If you have a complaint, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it promptly.

Please include your order number and a clear description of the issue.
24. Governing law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also benefit from mandatory legal protections that apply in your place of residence.
Nothing in these terms affects any mandatory statutory rights.
